Anytime now, she’ll be there. Heart beats like a clock. Lights and Christmas everywhere, white walls, sprinkles, trees — you can sense the holiday season, but it’s cold. She’d be there for him whenever he needs it; she really would. She longs for his call, just as he does for hers. So much has happened in the past few hours, days, weeks, months; everything is blurring together. Sometimes he forgets who he is, where he’s from — none of it seems to matter anymore, just a distant memory that’s out of habit. None of the things that mattered have any value today; it’s old news. There is only one thing that matters for them now. Just one thing. Far away from everything, just the two of them, anytime now.
